Your VetRep Review
Thank you to all who came out for the Cornwall Art Walk this weekend, we loved seeing you! This week you’ll be able to join us at the Parlor for acting classes, performances, and if you don’t feel like going out, you can even join us on a Write Loud.
VetRep’s reading of Central Park West by Woody Allen, is fast approaching and tickets are already selling out. We will be opening each performance with a reading of Fifteen Dead Souls by Leilani Squire. Fifteen Dead Souls is the winner of our inaugural 10-minute play competition and will be the first to be performed at the parlor.
Our Write Loud in June will be this week on the 14th at 8pm EST, commemorating the Army’s 248th birthday with a roster of insanely talented Army Veterans. Make sure you’re following us on our Instagram page so you don’t miss the notification when we go live!
We are currently offering multiple dates for our online and in-person Playwriting for Veterans classes, and our Acting for Beginners class is now being offered weekly every Saturday from 10am-12pm. Scholarships for qualifying veterans, as well as multi-class passes are available. Registration details can be found here.
There’s still time to submit your work! Our semi-annual playwrighting competition comes to a close in just five weeks. Submit your 10-minute plays by midnight on July 3rd to be considered in this competition.
Playwrights must be - Current or former: US military, law enforcement, fire service, EMS, foreign service, intelligence service, DoD employee, DoD Contractor; or an immediate family member of the service member.
Plays can be any genre and any subject matter. Playwrights may submit more than one play. Plays should not have been previously produced and/or published. Winners and finalists will be notified via email no later than December 31, 2023 (note: we will make every effort to have results back to submitters ASAP, however, in order to ensure fair treatment of each submission and to plan for any contingencies which may arise, we are providing a worst-case scenario for our timeline). There is no participation or submission fee. There is no guarantee that winners’ or finalists’ work will be produced by VetRep. The 10-minute play winner will receive a $1,000 grant, second place will receive $750, and third place will receive $500.
