You always loved having pictures all around
Especially of us
But I still wonder
When you brought them over,
Did you still leave them hanging in view?
Or did you flip them facedown before it was your turn
Hoping that happy couple in those pictures didn’t see what was to unfold
Did you feel any judgments as they at a minimum still could’ve listened?
I don’t think so.
When they asked about me what did you say?
Did you at least paint me in a positive light?
Maybe talked about how we could’ve all been friends
I hope you at least picked them well
Strong and smart
Even a bit funny
Given that I couldn’t be there
I hope they filled that void
I hope they were just what you needed
Maybe I was lucky enough that they taught you new things
That in turn you used on me
Oh how lucky would I have been
I know I’ll never get your honesty on the matter
I’ve accepted that for a long time
But as I sit alone in this long flight I can’t help but wonder.
