Folks,
We knew we’d have a whirlwind four months planning and executing the Savage Wonder Festival. For a two-person shop, it was an incredibly big lift if I do say so myself. Lilla and I pushed as hard as we could and couldn’t be more grateful. We dropped a pretty hefty rock in the pond. We look forward to seeing where the ripples go from here.
That’s also a long way of me apologizing to a whole lot of folks. Emails I haven’t returned, blog posts that haven’t been sent, podcast episodes that haven’t been recorded - I just ran out of runway and thank you to everyone for your kind words and understanding. I also thought the first week AFTER the festival would be a lot more reflective - not so. The amount of material to recover, returns to be made, data to be parsed, money to be counted, social media to be amplified - it was a deceptive time to think we could take our foot off the pedal.
I’m not saying any of this as to cover my ass, or offer tepid excuses. Just a little inside baseball for those that want to know what’s been going on with us. And, again, to thank everyone who has given us the benefit of the doubt as we race to tick the next box.
But, of course, we still have a show to put on - literally, and, well, tonight, as a matter of fact. It’s the final performance of Yasmina Reza’s Tony-winning comedy ART and if you haven’t caught it already, you really should. It’s not just a hilarious, witty, cutting play, it’s also been brilliantly executed by Nicholas Cocchetto, Davis Cowart and Jason Faust. The interplay, the fussiness, the neuroticism, the offenses, both given and received, it takes special actors to pick up on them and perfect the
m. To do so in such an intimate setting where there can be no false moves or forced beats is truly a spectacular accomplishment.
We hope you come out tonight to join us in seeing the play off. As always, tickets are pay-what-you-can, drinks, desserts, and the coziest atmosphere this side of Sherlock Holmes’ den are on the house. 7pm. 16 Quaker Ave., Cornwall, NY 12518. Whether you’re an old friend or new, we can’t wait to see you tonight.
