We speed through life
without hesitation or pause
with fleeting moments
of cheers and applause
we think ourselves lucky
to have these moments at all
and we gather our roses
before summer becomes fall
and while bittersweet
we cling to the light
and we hold it dear
through the long, cold night
for these treasures exist
because they are rare
we keep them in our hearts
and in the stories we share
so fear not the brevity
think not of the end
cherish that it happened
and share it with a friend
