Peter Spartano served in the 4th Infantry Division in and around An Khe, Vietnam in the Central Highlands from 1970 - 71. He took the picture you see from the back of a deuce and a half on a random convoy. Fifty years later he wrote this particular haiku when he was looking at the old photo.
