someday
I pray
I will call a place like this home
for my body
and so much more
for my wandering soul
where beauty is not tied to some inconsequential thing
and words and time are not wasted
instead they are spoken and spent
with depth
with weight
with purpose
somewhere
my hands and feet can reach into
the willing earth
and where every river holds healing
when I get there
you must no longer ask me
to push back the unruly that was forced to be civil
the polished mouth made
to say and do the right things
you can never again expect
that I could keep at bay
the parts that would be finally and without regret
untethered
as so many years have been spent
holding in and onto
the places inside that searched and pined
for places like these
I will no longer be afraid
for now I can be rough and wild and at ease
exactly as I was meant to be
