The sunset was beautiful today
and so were you
The colors so vibrant,
every shade and hue
As vibrant as your smile,
Your energy and spirit too.
The gold in the sky
like the gold in your hair,
the summer breeze softly surrounds me,
Like when your love was my air.
The clouds soften
the pink and orange skies,
just like when we would kiss,
and I would soften your green eyes.
Darkness comes and the sun sets
bringing heartache and sad regrets.
Where does the sun go
when it sets in the sky?
Where did our love go
when it went away to die?
The tides come and go
with the gravity of the moon-
It's pale beauty reflects you
and makes my heart swoon.
I see your face in all the night's stars,
cold and alone I wonder where you are.
I'm so lonesome, I could cry.
I'm so lonesome, I could die.
I remember warmer days,
Long ago and far away-
When the sun painted the sky a beautiful hue
But the sun is gone now,
and so are you.
