It will break your heart
Every time it will
the little hands will
hold your thumbs
Clinging
as if they will
hold you longer
Fat wet tears
Everybody’s hands hold
best forgotten years
Cupped faces
forgiveness graces
We are a tough bunch
but a close one
Sealing
broken hearts with
gold seams
Olympic teams and
small hands that
curl hard around
Mom’s thumbs
