Folks,
How do I really know we’re only three weeks away from the Savage Wonder Festival? Let’s see. My blood pressure is shockingly high. I dream about parking spaces. I pick fights with inanimate objects. And something else - I’ve noticed how boring I am to talk to recently (“Only recently??” - my wife). If something isn’t festival-related, I have shocking little ability to speak about it right now, think about about it, or have bandwidth to even put it in the right inbox.
Our goal this year is to prove the concept of the Savage Wonder Festival. We believe that the Hudson Valley is one of those rare areas that has a large veteran population and large arts population - exactly the kind of area that Savage Wonder can thrive in. We believe this is exactly the area that wants to see veteran artists. We believe this area wants to support its local veterans nonprofits by helping our beneficiaries make a lot of money. And we believe this area wants to honor Memorial Day weekend - and kick off summer - with an event that is as fun as it is eye-opening, and as respectful as it is artistic.
Prove us right. Get tickets now.
So many things are going well. The Town of Chester is full of amazing people. If you follow my video blog (more like a daily video diary) about the festival, you’ll know my theory about the asshole-deficiency in Chester, which continues to impress me. Our food trucks are all set and they are incredible - Cornwall’s own Farmhouse Food Truck, New York Soda Jerks, Roam Foodtruck, Empenada Master, Carreros Sausage and Pepper truck, and the veteran-owned Donuts for Days Donut Truck. Of course we’ll have all kinds of beer and drinks, but we’ll also have veteran-owned BLR’s new Luxe Cider which will debut at the festival.
What else?
You know about the music, art, poetry, dance, and film screenings at the festival. But did you know…
One of our beneficiaries, Clear Path 4 Veterans, will be hosting a service dog demonstration at various points throughout the day. The veterans at Frontline Arts will be doing demonstrations all day of their unique method for turning old military uniforms into paper.
There is also something very VERY cool that I can’t mention just yet. It’ll probably have to wait for next week to be official. But in case our lineup of veteran bands, visual artists, film screenings, poetry and dance performances aren’t enough, this will blow your mind. Trust me.
This is the best $5 ticket imaginable.
Why wouldn’t you go to the Savage Wonder Festival? Hm. Let’s think about this. Not sure you can go? The tickets are $5 - if you can’t make it, all you will have done is donate five bucks to local veterans nonprofits. Worried about the weather? We’re a rain-or-shine event - two of our three stages are indoors and everything can move indoors if the weather is really that bad. Got plans with the family? For $20 you can bring your whole family and we’re going for 11 hours - you got plenty of time to stop by. You don’t live close? How about donating so we can ensure the festival lives on for years to come - maybe the year you can come! You’re out of town Memorial Day weekend? Tell two friends who you think would enjoy coming. Help us crush it this year so next year, we’re around to help you celebrate then.
What are you waiting for? Buy tickets now. Then tell your friends. Help us make this year the start of something truly spectacular for the Hudson Valley, our veterans, and our veteran artists.
And thanks.
Talk soon,
Chris
