Folks,
The New Year has started with a bang for us. When the clock struck midnight, our inaugural ten-minute AND full-length playwrighting competitions came to a close…and our new competitions began. We received about 30% of our submissions in the last week of the competitions which is a pretty good indicator to me that a lot of writers were taking as much time as they could to perfect their scripts.
It was worth it.
I’ve completed reading all of the ten-minute plays and it has been tough to decide the top ten. A lot of quality work from a wide range of demographics - Cold War vets, spouses, children of vets, even some GWOT vets.
I’m just diving into the full-length plays, but once they are done, the top-ten are off to the judges for the final verdict.
Which is all very exciting, and…
…there is a lot more I’d like to share, but it’s just a tad premature. We have some announcements regarding our 2022 season and a few big projects that are about to exit the planning stage. Not to mention the purchase of our resident artist retreat center where we will workshop plays and house talent when projects require it.
More details to follow as things get locked down. But it’s promising to be as busy as we thought it might be for our “quiet” months from January to March. In the meantime, enjoy the latest from the Savage Wonder podcast, and talk at you next week when, hopefully, we can spill the beans on a few more developments.
