Shameless Plug Saturday
The Savage Wonder Festival approaches and a new show comes to the Parlor
Folks,
You may have noticed that this past week we put out two posts late. I also had a repeat podcast episode. No, I didn’t have a small stroke. It’s just that we’re now four weeks away from the Savage Wonder Festival of Veterans in the Arts and, well, my bandwidth is just about fully saturated.
But man is it worth it.
Since getting sponsored by iHeartRadio, Chronogram, and WPDH we’ve had to adjust our conservative predictions for attendance. And that meant adding more food trucks. More drinks. More festivities. So this should make it all the more memorable a day - and should help raise even more proceeds for our local veterans nonprofit beneficiaries: Clear Path 4 Veterans, Blue Star Families, and YIT Foundation.
This Friday, expect to hear me back on the Uncle Mike show on iHeart, and I’ll be bringing Gus Williams with me - Scott Mann and Roman Baca will be phoning in. Really grateful for Mike’s support and glad we get to bring some of the amazing SWF talent to the airwaves. I’m tuning up by recording a new podcast episode with Barrett from punk rockers Major Glen and tomorrow I’m talking with Nashville recording artist and former Green Beret Derek Stoner.
But what about tonight? Well, tonight the Parlor wraps up its last performance of David Ives’ All in the Timing. It has been nothing short of incredible to see the work that Ana Anderson, Walter Petryk, and Davis Cowart have done over the past month with almost no rehearsal. If you know, you know. Each week has been funnier and sharper than the one before and it’s been a real privilege to watch each performance mature and soar each successive week.
So to say I’m excited to start Yasmina Reza’s Tony-winning comedy ART next week is an understatement. It’s one of my all-time favorite plays, a real witty, savage comedy with bits of farce, sarcasm and passive-aggressive manipulation thrown in.
Obviously, we still have a lot of digital and remote content. You’re reading some of it now haha. But with a bunch a great opportunities to see live performances this month, can’t wait to catch you at a few.
Talk soon,
Chris
