Folks,
The festival gods giveth and the festival gods taketh away.
Well, it was bound to happen. We’ve been so focused on the Savage Wonder Festival of veterans in the arts (it’s on May 29! Have you gotten your tickets yet?) that we took it for granted that you guys would remember to keep coming out to the Parlor each Saturday night. Apparently, we misjudged people’s attachment to their kids and their graduations and their dance recitals and their…well, you get the idea. As a result, well…
We are in danger of having our first non-sell out night at the Parlor.
First the Kennedy Assassination, then 9/11 and now this.
But seriously. We knew we were focused on the festival a lot - it is a demanding animal, to be sure. We’ll be talking up the festival at the Hamptonburgh veterans resource fair all day today. And the Highland Falls Arts Fair. And the Middletown Galleria. And we still have to rehearse the show tonight and then put it on. So there’s no time even for last minute advertising of ART. But we’re not sure we could recover from the emotional damage if we didn’t keep the streak alive of selling out the Parlor for every performance ever. So…can you help us out?
Here’s what we’ll do for you.
Offer you some curated drinks. For free.
Get you a dessert or three from Newburgh’s Flour Shop that looks like a piece of modern art. For free.
Put on a showing of ART, the Tony and Olivier award-winning comedy. For free.
Cast professional actors to give a hilarious live performance in an intimate unforgettable space.
Make the tickets pay-what-you-can.
Give you the best date night possible this Saturday night.
What’s that? Sounds like what we do every Saturday night? Exactly. What else can we do, donate a kidney?
For those of you who know and love what we do - this is a great night to come by and support us. For those of you who haven’t come over yet - not all heroes wear capes. This is your moment.
Now for those of you who keep showing up at the door - you know, the people who I’m always telling to book ahead because we’re always sold out…this is the Saturday to try your luck. But for our peace of mind - and yours - why not just book now?
Come on guys. KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE. Do not leave me alone at the end of the night with five Flour Shop desserts. That’s not going to be good for anyone.
And to all our friends who failed to neglect their children and come see a staged reading instead, we forgive you (will our new spot at 1 Angola have childcare? Should it? Leave your comments below…)
Thanks for supporting us. It really does mean a lot to make you all laugh and drink and hang out in our insane little space. 16 Quaker Ave., Cornwall NY 12518. Thanks for doing what you can to stop by tonight.
Chris
