Shameless Plug Saturday
2022 Season updates, new Savage Wonder episodes and the spirit of giving
Folks,
We are less than two weeks away from the end of our inaugural veteran playwrighting competition. This will be our first chance to select artists-in-residence who will be working on new plays for us for the upcoming year. To say I’m excited is more than an understatement.
To make sure I have a clear head and adequate bandwidth for reading a ton of new plays, I’ve been trying to lock down some key pieces of 2022 before the deluge hits. Number one on the agenda has been setting our 2022 season. Let me give you an idea of what it’s going to look like.
From April 2 to December 17, we plan to perform the staged readings of eight plays at the parlor. Unlike our test run in 2021, each play will get three to four Saturdays, so if you’re not one of the first 16 to get tickets, you can be one of the first 64! In addition, there is a strong possibility that we will be workshopping new plays throughout the year, so we plan to feature them on Friday nights as needed. We’re just trying to give you reasons to make the Parlor more of your weekend each weekend!
What else?
We plan on special events throughout the year. Memorial Day, Veterans Day, July 4th, 9/11 - we will not forego every opportunity to bring perspective, experience and a deep appreciation for our veteran community to each event.
We’re not just telling you this to brag. Let us know what kind of events you’d like to see. Click here and give us some feedback:
The holidays are almost upon us, but the Savage Wonder podcast will be going strong the whole time. Check out the episodes you missed and stay tuned for the broad array of veterans artists we have coming up here:
Lastly, we’re a nonprofit theater. You know this. But did you know that about 10%-40% of the average nonprofit theater’s income is from earned revenue? That means 60%-90% comes from donations. We are no exception. We are committed to championing the veteran/artist. We like our pay-what-you-can pay tickets. We like providing affordable, accessible theater and entertainment to our local and national communities. But this will only be a short joyride if we don’t have your support. So anything you spare to support us is much appreciated. So appreciated, in fact, that we’ll turn around and put the money right into our upcoming season.
Listen, I know it isn’t easy for everyone to support us. And if you can support us we deeply appreciate it. But if this isn’t the right time for you - can I interest you in a free way to support us? Just by sharing Savage Wonder with folks, it’ll do a lot. If you’ve found insight, inspiration, entertainment or even deep, orgasmic, spiritual bliss from reading and/or listening to Savage Wonder, how about sending somebody a holiday gift subscription?
Whatever you decide to do, thank you for helping us entertain you. We’ll keep doing everything we can to keep you coming back for more. Have a great holiday season!
Best,
Chris
