These kids, these kids, these kids
They say it takes a village, but here I am alone. Teaching them how to color in the lines, how to be polite and how to war-fight.
I watched them take their first steps, say their first words and load their friends on cas-evac birds.
I watched them learn to ride a bike, scrape their knees and I watched them lose their NVDs
I watched their first heart break, I watched them have their first beer and I watched them on combat patrols with no fear.
I watched them grow up….at least It felt that way.
I wasn’t much older than they were. But the scars and tattoos said otherwise. All you can do is hope you raised them right and pray they do better than you.
I’ll remember you kids, always
Love Sarnt Dad.
