the sand blows hot
across the desert
and the moon dust kicks
as red air
lays it’s heavy hand
on us.
these days
these days
chilled me to the bone
alone and unafraid
surrounded by desert for miles
waiting for the end.
my rifle, my only girlfriend
the boys and I, our eyes wild
waiting for the call, waiting for the raid
unafraid and not alone
these ways
these ways
that caused such a fuss
as the heavy hand
of despair
takes over my mind with magic tricks
and across the desert,
the sand blows hot.
