I reaped all of the golden wheat,
(now thrashing that same grain)
the chaff of me, lost to the wind,
and washed away by rain.
Now rutted, rotted, rancid death,
(spread evenly ‘cross dirt)
charred remains, once former me,
now used to salt the earth.
Ancient, decayed, desolate lands,
(whose paths I have, well worn)
labored the weight of sorrow’s yoke
and burden’s jagged thorns.
I sponged all of my sweat from brow,
(pilfered a single seed)
broke free, fled to fertile ground, knelt
then planted a new me.
