If it were yesterday in the Parisian cafe
just outside the city where our eyes locked.
If it were yesterday, across the room and
over your oat milk latte when you smiled back.
If it were yesterday and the heavy condensation
still held onto golden lettered window panes,
If it were yesterday, could we change
the course, escape the race in some other place?
If it were yesterday and I held your gaze
would your soft hand fall into my callouses?
If it were yesterday would you follow me across the land to chase the sun wherever it was setting?
If it were yesterday would it need to look like
everything else? Or could it be us?
