My dear,
where have you gone?
Is that you whispering
through the pines
with every wind
that flows up the draw
from the valley?
Are you the branch
that breaks just off-trail
which raises each and every
hair on my skin?
Are you the common raven
that calls a lonely song
deep within the forest?
My dear,
I know you’re here,
hiding just beyond
my fires glow.
Rest my dear,
I was yours then.
Now nevermore.
