maybe it ruined me
maybe it broke my spine
and my knees
and shattered my mind
maybe tornados threw apart
my house
and ripped down foundations
and left me naked
and confused
maybe I don’t rate these thoughts
maybe I should embrace the
suck
it the fuck up
maybe it’s nothing
maybe it’s everything
maybe that’s why
I’ve locked myself away from you
stuck in the storm cellar
waiting
for the next gust of wind
to blow over
maybe then
I’ll emerge
squinting against the sun
