I step through the doorway
Half expecting to see you
And watch your chin lift
As you gaze up at me-
But you aren’t there.
Inhaling illusive wafts
Of your scent
As I navigate
This life
Without
Your presence.
We are lost without you.
A piece of us went missing
The day you went away.

At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.
