"Ghosts on a Breeze"

Have you ever felt a memory
surround you in the breeze?
Like a ghost bringing fair winds
off of following seas?
Toledo Bend, 8 years
since False River
where I fell in love
just to be an Indian Giver
when I left for the Marine Corps
to stand and deliver
I watched the fireworks dance
across her eyes
As they burst red, white, and blue
across the dark summer sky
I feel a past life rush over me
in the morning breeze
that I let die
Lives like years change in seasons
and I have come to accept the reasons,
I finally found something to believe in,
Just gratitude in the sunrise
and air that I’m breathin’
and brothers I honor by livin’
instead of just grievin’

Today VetRep is hosting open auditions in Cornwall, NY from 11-6pm, for all parts, ages, and talent ranges as we cast our Fourth of July Pageant. Sign ups begin just before 11, and auditions will run on a first come, first served basis.
