What a beautiful love story,
but a sad one, too;
when one life ended
at just, twenty-two
So, one young widow
and two little girls,
had to scrimp and scour
to survive in this world.
She suffered the darkness
to raise them in the light
and slept alone by his picture
for thousands of nights.
Daughters turned mothers
with the lives of their own.
Their children, have children,
some now, fully grown.
Though the decades weighed heavy
her spirit grew lighter.
She kept faithful, kept praying;
was one hell of a fighter.
I bet God sent back Grandpa
to give her peace, at the end.
I’m grateful they’re in heaven,
finally together, once again.
