My daughter wants to be an astronaut.
She says she will take us both
beyond the moon, someday.
But she doesn't understand how rooted I am to our lithosphere and that the stratosphere
is as high as I care to be.
There's nothing out in space for me.
There's still too much here needing to be found.
But if the stars are calling you my sweet child,
don't let my choices be what keeps you
from reaching higher than I ever wanted to go.
I'll always be here when you land and should you
choose to keep going, worry not -
to dust we all return and that is when I will meet you
among the stars.
