I would cut out my heart
unroll the muscle
use it like a jump rope.
The hole left in my chest
would grow roses
the roots would fill my veins
till thorns came out my skin.
My hugs would last forever
with all my hooks in deep
the blood is warm
where I hold on to you
I didn’t mean to scratch you up
this must be how I bathe.
My chocolate eyes
melt sea salt sweet
down my full cheeks
Drip past my rose petals
and splash thick chocolate puddles
at my double-dutch feet.
