Latitude lines
Measure where the sun
Is nourishing or burning
Desire
Breaks over the horizon
After a long night
Thawing skin
Itching for a sunburn
Not soft like
The insubstantial curves of a cloud
But soft like the stones
Worn smooth beneath a river
By eons of gentle friction
The sun is eons old
But for us
Those fractured colors of sunrise
Renew each morning
