"Creekside Blues"

The babbling brook sings to me
a most melancholy tune.
A siren calling to lead me astray.
Thoughts erupting weave upon the stream,
Squeezing through each withered stone
ground smooth.
An unrelenting force bearing down like
the vice around my skull,
Giving birth to that sorrowful song
that never ends.
It keeps calling, like a lullaby grasping for
the lost child deep inside.
Waiting for the chance to
pull me under.
