Can’t you hear me?
We rest on the edge of a great
precipice, I look over to see my
guide is anxious. "I understand" I
whisper. Backing up, but just
enough to ease her anxiety.
Gazing below, a whole world full of
motion. Calculated movement,
implying intelligent design. The
emerald Earth swaying back and
forth. Tiny creatures walking
hurriedly to and from, proudly
displaying energy suggesting they
can spare no time.
Wondering if their view is as
beautiful from their perspective, as
I find mine, I notice myself
compelled to communicate. I
speak out to no answer. Breathing
deeply, I yell as loud as I can
manage. Curious, I try again. And
yet again, but still no response.
I breathe and see that the
creatures are ants, And the cliff is
the edge of my front porch. This
does nothing to ease my suffering
though. I'm still saddened that my
voice will never be heard by these
preoccupied beings.
Breathing in, I smile at the ant.
Breathing out, I see, I am the ant.
Much like this life on the edge of a
great precipice. I pray to hear the
divine above me, eager as I am to
communicate with the
preoccupied creature. Finishing my
prayer, my suffering is sacrificed.
Feeling lightened, breathe out.
