"Another anonymous twilight hunt"

Note: I know I missed plugging any new, exciting ventures of ours on Shameless Plug Saturday. But it’s my blog, so welcome to Shameless Plug Sunday! We have a lot of things pending. Big stuff. Big news.
This isn't it.
But it's so cool we couldn't help but do it. Here's what happened. The awesome Dex reached out with a great idea for us to do an Instagram Live show with a bunch of poets and writers. And I said yes. And then I said, "Man, this was so easy to book, we could probably do this every month." And just like that, our new Write Loud events were born. So clearly, I'm a genius.
OK, real talk. This is a great chance to showcase writers and poets we know and like. Just a little entertainment and brain candy once a month.

Men patrolling empty streets
became dancing silhouettes in the moonlight under the Sangin sky.
The landscape seemed an eerie humdrum grey, each of the men peering into the blackness, straining to see the footprints left by the enemy.
For the most part, the men seemed unbothered by the heavy packs cutting into their sweat-soaked shoulders.
For the men, it was another night, just like the one before.
Knowing there will be many more.
