A trip to the Habitat for Humanity REstore
Patterns
I need small plates...bread plates not saucers
Moving down the aisle of the thrift store clay with green striped
outlay around the perimeter they are $1 each
someone chose this pattern likely for simplicity and durability
I choose it out of necessity
Along with purple two panel curtains for $12 and a plastic flatware
storage tray for $1
Looking at the other plates and their patterns ornate florals and
whorls encircling white space where your meai will wait to be
consumed
Looking at my own patterns compartments and spaces are places
where I don’t let others in guilt and shame left in the wake make it
easy to blame others for my mistakes
Looking at my own patterns the playbook doesn’t change only the
exchanges that take place infatuations that lead to digital flirtations
and let the guilt and shame begin anew
Looking at my own patterns I pick up eight of the green painted
plates and put them in my cart
It’s hard to shop for yourself when you don’t like who you are

What’s happening at VetRep…
Join us for an intimate evening of theater in the heart of Cornwall at our cozy Parlor on Quaker Ave. The final Parlor performance of the year will feature seven, 10-minute plays authored by veterans, including plays that have won grants through VetRep’s bi-annual Playwrighting competition. Settle in with a winter mocktail and dessert while we explore drama, comedy, and all the feelings in between through each short play.
