As the artistic director of Veterans Repertory Theater, I've had the distinct privilege of witnessing extraordinary individuals lend their talents to helping us launch. From our resident artists to our contractors, from our Board of Advisors to our regular patrons. Yet, among these many invaluable contributors, there was only one Lilla Faint. Yeah, words are insufficient to capture the essence of Lilla’s journey with VetRep, and the immense gratitude I have for her.
Lilla was my first hire. A former intelligence officer with a love for the arts - what else do you want from a Managing Director? She accepted the role of Managing Director with a zeal that was pivotal in our growth. She was never an employee though; she made VetRep her own. She was my sanity check, my confidante, and the cornerstone upon which the burgeoning dreams of VetRep found a solid footing.
Lilla's tenure at VetRep wasn’t just about her title. It was about the endless drives to and from the Beacon train station, ensuring our actors were present and accounted for at our weekly Parlor performances. It was about her tireless work on our grants and contracts. It was about the meticulous bookkeeping that ensured our financial integrity, allowing us to focus on what we do best – bringing a veteran influence to high art.
Last week, with a heavy heart, we bid adieu to Lilla as she stepped down due to unexpected health challenges. The news hit us hard, but it also reinforced the essence of our VetRep family – a group whose shared mission, appetite for excellence and ambition to platform veterans in the arts - bonded us together. Lilla, was not just a colleague, but a cherished member of this family, whose absence will be deeply felt in every curtain rise and fall.
As Lilla tends to her health, our thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes accompany her, hoping for a swift and thorough recovery. We are comforted knowing that the bond with the Faint family remains strong, as Charles Faint continues to honor us with his presence on VetRep's board of directors.
Lilla’s legacy at VetRep is indelible. Her dedication has been nothing short of a beacon, guiding us through challenges, towards remarkable accomplishments. As we continue to forge ahead, the trails she blazed will light our way. Our narrative at VetRep is richer because of her, and the stories we tell on stage will continue to resonate with the spirit of her unwavering dedication.
Here’s to Lilla Faint - an epitome of unwavering dedication, a true friend, and an indispensable part of our VetRep saga.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Christopher Paul Meyer
